Fast-paced technological advancement is like the dirt that falls off your path while hiking. You need to stay on top of it at all times to survive.

Professor Christensen of Harvard Business School realised that hardware businesses in tech industry often fail because they are unable to respond to disruptive innovation. Huge corporations usually have a fixed resource allocation and working model. As such, they are often unable to adapt when innovation arrives. By the time they are able to restructure, disruptive innovation would have captured the market, and render these conventional companies redundant.

Christensen argued that in response to disruptive innovation, big corporations can have an independent investigation into it. Moreover, they should also try to capture new customers in untapped markets. This way, big corporations can stay wary of disruptive innovation and tailor their moves in response.
